We will breakdown some of the key employability skills that are necessary to be successful in the beauty profession. You will learn tips on how to identify students' strengths and areas for improvement, setting them up to be a true asset to future employers.

About the Author: Marcia Haines-Bird
Marcia is a dedicated professional with just over 40 years of experience in many divisions of the professional beauty industry. She is a stylist at her core, a state certified educator, state board testing examiner and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Education from Rutgers University. Her career has stretched from the salon, to senior management positions in education for manufacturers and administrator roles within schools of cosmetology.
As a recipient of the NF Cimaglia Educator of the Year by Milady Publishing and the Career Educators Alliance (CEA), Marcia was acknowledged for her contributions to upholding the standards of excellence in education. The quote above defines what Marcia strives to instill throughout her training and in her own professional endeavors. She will be featured in the “Spotlight on Success” in Milady’s 4th edition of Professional Educator.
As a member of the Professional Beauty Association (PBA) she has served 3 terms on the Advisory Council for licensed professionals and currently sits on the Foundation Board of Directors. She encourages professionals to engage in their industry organizations to support their career path.

In this three-hour online class, you’ll focus on a variety of characteristics that students need to successfully land a job in our industry. You'll learn the key employability skills, and how to teach them to your students to ensure future success for them.
How long is this course?
The course should take you about 3 hours depending on your current learning style and how long you take to practice what you learn. You may take the course at your own pace, stopping and starting as it fits your schedule.
How is the course structured?
There are 30 lessons in the course as well as a final exam. You must pass the final exam with a score of 70% or higher in order to obtain your certificate of completion.
Is this class offered in-person?
No, this course is not currently offered in-person. However, if you’re interested in hosting an event (in-person or live, virtual) with Milady’s Master Educator Program, we do have a menu of classes that can be delivered in-person or as a live, virtual class. Learn more, here.
How many courses do I need for my Milady Master Educator Certification?
To receive your Level 1 - Master Educator Certification, you must complete a total of 12 classes.
To receive your Level 2 - Advanced Master Educator Certification, you must complete a total of 18 classes.
To receive your Level 3 - Trailblazer Master Educator Certification, you must complete a total of 24 classes.
Remember, you're responsible for keeping track of your credits! Once you reach 12, 18, or 24, email info@milady.com (with all of your course certificates attached) to order your printed Master Educator Certificate. Please allow up to 4 weeks for processing. The credits toward your Master Educator Certification do not expire.
We only keep your information on course completions for 5 years. After that, we will have no record of events that you've attended
